Disney’s Aristocats KIDS

Show dates: May 31 - June 2

In the heart of Paris, a kind and eccentric millionairess wills her entire estate to Duchess, her high-society cat, and her three little kittens. Laughs and adventure ensue as the greedy, bumbling butler pulls off the ultimate catnap caper. Now it's up to the rough-and-tumble alley cat, Thomas O'Malley, and his band of swingin' jazz cats to save the day.

Audition Info

AUDITION DATE: March 8, 2025 (3-5 PM)

Auditions are open to actors ages 7-12. You do not have to be a current student at the Wonder Theatre Academy to audition. We will be forming 1 cast for this show.

AUDITION PROCESS:

Vocal Audition

  • Students must prepare a song excerpt from Disney’s Aristocats KIDS depending on what character they would like to audition for. Links and sheet music will be provided. (Click here for music

    • To audition for Thomas O'Malley Cat: sing cut from Thomas O'Malley Cat (start at 0:16 and go to 0:55)

    • To audition for Duchess/Aristokittens: sing cut from Scales and Arpeggios (start at 0:09-0:33)

    • To audition for ANY character: sing cut from Ev’rybody Wants to be a Cat (start at (0:23-1:20)

  • Students will sing with a track during the audition, so it is not necessary to provide sheet music for an accompanist. 

Dance Audition

  • Students will be asked to take part in a short dance call at the beginning of their audition block.

  • Please dress in clothes that are comfortable to move in. If you have dance shoes please bring them. If not, be prepared to dance in socks (no bare feet and no street shoes in the dance studio).


Rehearsal Dates

Rehearsals: Saturdays, March 22 - May 24 (9-11:30 AM) with a parent meeting on March 22, 2025.

Tech Rehearsals:

  • May 27 (6-9PM)

  • May 28 (6-9PM)

  • May 29 (6-9PM)


Tuition

Tuition is $450.

Upon casting, payment is required if you accept your role and wish to participate. This can be in full (to receive the discount) or as the first installment of your payment plan. Tuition must be paid in full by the 4th rehearsal. Should a family accept, and then choose not to participate after the first rehearsal, a partial refund of 75% is applicable but must be communicated to Academy Administrator BEFORE the 2nd rehearsal. No refunds are applicable after the second rehearsal. 

Attendance is crucial. Excessive absences and or missing a tech rehearsal may result in reduced roles, having roles reassigned, or being excused from the production with no refund.


Character Breakdown

Thomas O'Malley

Thomas O'Malley is the charming and charismatic lead alley cat. He lives as a free spirit with no attachments but secretly desires to be part of a family. This role requires a strong actor, singer, and mover.

Duchess

Duchess is the elegant and nurturing mother of the Aristokittens. This leading role requires a strong actress.

Edgar

Edgar is the villainous butler of Madame. He's allergic to the pampered Aristocats and secretly hates tending to them. This leading part requires an actor who can portray a believable sneeze, possesses excellent comedic timing, and is unafraid to be mean.

Toulouse

Toulouse and Berlioz are Duchess's sons. Since these Aristokittens are in the majority of the scenes and requires a strong actor who can sing well. Toulouse yearns to be seen as tougher than he is and If possible, the Aristokittens should be physically smaller than Duchess.

Berlioz

Toulouse and Berlioz are Duchess's sons. Since these Aristokittens are in the majority of the scenes but require little solo singing, cast two of your stronger actors who can sing well. If possible, the Aristokittens should be physically smaller than Duchess.

Marie

Marie is the spirited and sassy daugher of Duchess. She is the youngest child and a charmer just like her mother.

Roquefort

Roquefort is the naïve yet ultimately brave house mouse who overcomes his fears and saves the Aristokittens from Edgar. This role requires a strong singer and character actor who can believably play innocent and frightened. Roquefort can be played by either a girl or a boy.

Madame

Madame is the eccentric and kind human owner of the Aristocats who loves her pets more than anything else in the world. This small character role requires a good actor who possesses the maturity to play a maternal role. She should also be capable of delivering a short singing solo. May be double cast as an Alley Cat.

General Napoleon

General Napoleon and Private Lafayette are two country dogs in a comedic power struggle throughout the show. Napoleon is the power-hungry leader and Lafayette the not-so-subservient private. These roles require the ability to move like a dog. Since this comic duo feeds off of each other, cast actors who can work well together. Napoleon and Lafayette can be played by either girls or boys.

Private Lafayette

Amelia

Amelia and Abigail are the two bold geese sisters who rescue O'Malley from the river and lead the way out of the country back to Paris. These comedic characters sing a duet. It's also important for Amelia and Abby to be able to move convincingly as geese.

Abigail

Scat Cat

Scat Cat is the jazzy leader of the Alley Cat narrators. He or she is ultra hip and enjoys introducing the Aristocats to jazz music. Scat Cat leads the song "Ev'rybody Want to Be a Cat" so cast a strong singer and smooth mover. The more creative and able to perform outside the box, the better. Scat Cat can be played by either a girl or a boy.

The Alley Cats (Hep, Mad, Slick And Wacky)

The Alley Cats (Hep, Mad, Slick and Wacky), although small acting parts, are the glue that holds Disney's The Aristocats KIDS together. These storytellers set up and comment on the action as well as execute the scene changes.
