Musical Theatre Leg Up Classes

Are you ready to step into the world of musical theatre?

At Wonder Theatre Academy, students can take classes in musical theatre dance, vocal music, and stage acting. Leg Up Classes are for any students ages 3-18 (incoming high school seniors) of all skill levels—we welcome everyone, whether they’re completely new or a seasoned performer!

BRAVO Showcase Information

4-11 year olds

  • December 8th, 2025: 5:30-7:30 PM Dress Rehearsal (4-7 year olds can be picked up at 6:30 once they have run through the material).

  • December 9th, 2025: 5:30 call time, 7 PM show (4-7 year olds can be picked up by their parents after they perform).

12-18 Year Olds & Teen Troupe

  • December 10th, 2025: 5:30-7:30 PM Dress Rehearsal. Teen Troupe will stay until 8:30 PM.

  • December 11th, 2025: 5:30 call time, 7 PM performance.

PLEASE NOTE: You MUST inform us if your child will not be participating in the BRAVO Showcase. Tickets are $5 with self-selected seating. A ticket link will be sent via email and posted in the lobby closer to the time of the showcase.


Class Descriptions

All classes are separated by age range.

  • Little Wonders: 4-7 year olds.

  • 8-11 Year Olds

  • 12-18 Year Olds

Acting (8-11)

Focuses on acting techniques, including voice projection, body language, and emotional expression. Students participate in scene work and character development, learning how to interpret scripts and bring characters to life. The class emphasizes teamwork, creativity, and communication, creating a supportive environment where elementary-aged students can build confidence and explore their passion for performance. Students will also develop problem-solving and storytelling skills through fun, interactive activities, exercises, and games designed to grow their artistic growth.

Acting (12-18)

This class focuses on developing acting techniques, scene work, and character development tailored specifically to students. Participants will explore script analysis, emotional expression, and character motivation, gaining tools to bring authenticity to their performances. The class emphasizes collaboration and creativity, providing a supportive environment for students to build confidence, refine their skills, and deepen their passion for acting through engaging exercises and guided performance opportunities.

Acting Audition Prep (7-11)

This beginner-level class introduces young performers to the exciting world of auditions in a fun and supportive environment. Students will explore basic audition techniques, including working with short monologues, character exercises, and improvisation. The class emphasizes building confidence, making bold choices, and learning how to present themselves effectively in front of an audience. Through interactive activities and guided practice, participants will gain a strong foundation in audition skills while fostering creativity, self-expression, and a love for performing.

Acting Audition Prep (12-18)

Designed for junior high and high school students, this class focuses on honing audition techniques to help students excel in both professional and academic settings. Participants will work on monologues, cold readings, and character interpretation, learning how to present themselves confidently and make strong, memorable choices. The class provides practical tips on audition etiquette, preparation strategies, and how to adapt to various audition scenarios. Ideal for students aiming to elevate their skills, this course equips them with the tools and confidence needed to succeed in future theatre opportunities.

Dance Call: Audition Prep (12-18)

This class is specifically designed to prepare students for the fast-paced, high-energy demands of dance auditions. Students will develop the skills needed to pick up choreography quickly, adapt to various dance styles, and execute combinations with precision and confidence under pressure. The class emphasizes audition-specific techniques, such as how to present yourself in a professional manner, stay focused in a competitive environment, and deliver standout performances. Whether preparing for school productions, community theatre, or professional auditions, this class equips students with the tools to shine.

Beginner Tap (8-11)

This class introduces students to the fundamentals of tap dance, including basic techniques, rhythms, and terminology. Through fun and engaging exercises, students will develop coordination, timing, and musicality while learning to create percussive sounds with their feet. Students will explore creative movement and rhythm patterns, fostering self-expression, confidence, and a deeper appreciation for the art of dance. With a supportive and energetic environment, this class encourages both individual growth and teamwork as students learn to perform simple combinations and routines.

Little Wonders

Our youngest performers begin their journey into the magical world of theatre through a fun, playful, and nurturing environment. Combining the best of both programs, this beginner-level class introduces children to the foundations of singing, dancing, and acting while fostering creativity, imagination, and self-expression. Through interactive activities and play-based learning, students develop coordination, rhythm, social skills, and teamwork—all while building confidence to shine in front of an audience. It’s a joyful, engaging introduction to musical theatre that sparks a lifelong love for the performing arts and encourages each child to take their first bow with pride.

Musical Theatre Dance (8-11)

This class introduces students to the exciting world of musical theatre dance, blending foundational dance techniques with the art of storytelling through movement. Students will learn proper posture, coordination, rhythm, and basic choreography inspired by popular Broadway musicals. The class emphasizes the connection between character, music, and movement, helping students understand how to express emotions and tell stories through dance. In a fun and supportive environment, students will develop confidence, creativity, and teamwork while exploring various dance styles commonly seen in musical theatre. This is an excellent class for young performers looking to enhance their stage presence and build a strong foundation for future performance opportunities.

Musical theatre Dance Beg/Int (12-18)

This class is perfect for students with beginner to intermediate dance experience who are eager to develop their skills in musical theatre dance. It provides a structured yet supportive environment for building a solid foundation in a variety of dance styles commonly used in musical theatre, including jazz, Broadway, and character-driven movement. Students will focus on fundamental techniques such as proper posture, coordination, and musicality while exploring the storytelling aspect of dance. Whether they are preparing for auditions or simply looking to enhance their love for musical theatre, this class offers an engaging and creative experience that equips students with the tools to succeed on stage.

MT Dance Int/Adv (12-18)

For students with intermediate to advanced experience, this class focuses on complex choreography, technique, and storytelling through movement. Students explore various musical theatre styles, blending acting and musicality into dance to enhance performance quality and character expression. Emphasis is placed on precision, versatility, and collaboration through challenging routines and ensemble work. Whether they are preparing for auditions or simply looking to enhance their love for musical theatre, this class offers an engaging and creative experience that equips students with the tools to succeed on stage.

Intro to Tap (12–18)

This class is designed for teen dancers ready to develop or refine their tap skills in a fun and supportive environment. Students with prior experience will work on Beg/Int techniques, intricate rhythms, and challenging combinations, while also building speed, control, and musicality. Creative exercises and performance-ready routines help enhance stage presence, coordination, and confidence, while group activities foster teamwork and collaboration. Through this dynamic class, students deepen their understanding of tap as both a technical skill and an expressive art form, leaving them equipped to perform with precision, style, and joy.

Int/Adv Tap (12-18)

Designed for students with prior tap experience, this class emphasizes refining technique, mastering intricate rhythms, and executing advanced combinations with precision. Students will develop greater speed, control, and musicality while exploring challenging choreography and performance-ready routines. The class also focuses on building stamina, syncopation skills, and stage presence, helping students enhance their confidence and artistry as tap dancers. Through dynamic exercises and engaging group work, participants will deepen their understanding of tap as both a technical skill and an expressive art form.

Vocal Music (8-11)

This class introduces students to the fundamentals of proper vocal techniques, including breath control, pitch accuracy, and tone quality. Through engaging breathing exercises, warm-ups, and age-appropriate repertoire, students will learn how to project their voices and sing with confidence. Emphasis is placed on song interpretation, teaching students how to convey emotions and tell stories through music. The supportive and encouraging environment fosters a love for singing while promoting individual growth, creativity, and teamwork. Students will have the opportunity to explore a variety of musical styles, building their skills and discovering their unique voices.

Vocal Music (12-18)

This class is designed for students ready to take their vocal skills to the next level. It focuses on advanced vocal techniques, including proper breathing, tone production, pitch control, and dynamic expression. Students will also explore harmonization and ensemble singing, learning how to blend their voices with others while maintaining individuality. The class emphasizes performance readiness, with opportunities to work on solo pieces, duets, and group numbers that build stage confidence and presence. Whether students are aspiring performers or simply passionate about singing, this class equips them with the tools and confidence to shine on any stage.

TUITION

Below are the tuition costs per membership for the entirety of the semester. Each covers your classes through the semester, and can be paid in full, or broken up into three equal payments. If you will be taking one course a week, you want a One Class Pass. If you are taking two classes a week, you’ll want a Two Class Pass, and so on.

  • One class: $260 per semester

  • Two classes: $400 per semester

  • Three classes: $540 per semester

  • Four classes: $680 per semester

  • Five classes: $820 per semester

After you purchase your membership, an additional, one-time $100 registration fee will be applicable. This fee will cover a t-shirt, administrative costs, scholarship funding, a Bravo! recital fee, and other material costs. If you purchased a class pass, the registration fee is only $75.

Wonder Theatre Academy Dress Code
Students must adhere to our dress code for all classes.

Broadway Babies and Little Wonders

Comfortable clothing as students will be exploring singing, acting, and dancing and will be moving around, sitting, or laying on the floor. Students must wear shorts under dresses or skirts. Jazz/Ballet shoes are recommended but not required. If you do not have jazz shoes, be prepared to remove shoes (socks required) in the dance studio.

Acting and Vocal Music Classes

Comfortable clothing. Students are often asked to move around, sit or lie on the floor.

Dance Classes

  • Black leggings, jazz pants/capris, or bike shorts. NO JEANS.

  • Any solid color leotard, crop top, tank top, or fitted t-shirt. 

  • Black or beige jazz shoes. Street shoes are not allowed in our dance studio.

You may choose the style of dancewear that feels best to your dancer. Dance wear can be purchased at Dorothy’s Dance Shop (Target, Amazon, and other retailers also carry options).
