Fall 2024 Leg Up Classes

Deadline to register for classes is 9/30!

Students can learn and master their technique with our professional training classes in musical theatre dance, vocal music, and stage acting. Leg Up Classes are for students ages 3-18 (incoming high school seniors), in addition to classes for Adults ages 18+.

Try it before you buy it!

For just $25, you can try any class (within your age range) during the first week of class! Families who decide to purchase a membership and stay for the semester will have this credited back to their account to go toward registration fees.

Classes run from September 9, 2024 to December 5, 2024 and will end with BRAVO! Winter Showcase, our end of semester showcase.

BRAVO! is a showcase that allows students to show off the skills they have learned throughout the semester. Tickets to the show are $5 each. Ticket info will be sent as the end of the semester approaches.

HOW TO PURCHASE A FIRST WEEK PASS!

Returning families can use this link to log into their account and purchase a First Week Pass!

New families can use this link to create their account!

For new registrants, parent information is needed on the first page of the registration form. Once filled out, click "Add Relationship" at the bottom of the first page. Child information will be filled out on the second page. Save the form, sign the waiver, and continue to purchase your First Week Pass!

All registrants need only buy their First Week Pass! Just show up to the class(es) you want to try the week of Sept 9-12.

Neither returning families or new families will need to book classes, as that will take place on your first day. Simply purchase a pass in advance and arrive to the classes you wish to take that first week!

After the first week, families will be able to register for the classes they wish to take.


CLASS LEVELS

All classes are separated by age range and skill level.

  • Broadway Babies: No experience but must be 3 years old as of Sept 1. All students in this class must be potty trained and must be able to do so unassisted.

  • Little Wonders: No experience but must meet age requirements by Sept 1.

  • Beginner: Has no experience or very little experience/technique. 0-1 years of experience.

  • Intermediate: Has experience or knowledge of discipline but needs polishing. 1-2 years of experience.

  • Advanced: Has technique training and seeks continued growth. 3+ years of experience.

  • Adult: 18+


CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

TINY TRIPLE THREATS

Students will be introduced to the WONDERful world of Musical Theatre! Students will participate in acting games and exercises, learn basic dance steps and combinations, and learn about rhythm and singing techniques. 

All students in these classes must be potty trained and must be able to do so unassisted. Instructors can escort students to the bathroom but must remain outside.

  • Broadway Babies: Ages 3-5 years (as of Sept. 1st, 2024)

  • Little Wonders: Ages 5-7 years (as of Sept. 1st, 2024)

ACTING

Students will develop skills in characterization and analysis through acting exercises and games. They will explore theatre history, monologue and group scene work, improv, and practice cold readings

  • INTRO to Acting: Ages 7-9

  • Acting I Beg/Int: Ages 9-11

  • Acting I Int/Adv: Ages 9-11

  • Acting II Beg/Int: Ages 12-14

  • Acting II Int/Adv: Ages 12-14

  • Acting III (All Levels): Ages 14-18

MUSICAL THEATRE DANCE

Students will focus on technique, isolations, progressions, performance quality, and develop complex rhythm patterns through combinations.

  • Musical Theatre Dance I Int/Adv: Ages 9-11

  • Musical Theatre Dance II (All Levels): Ages 12-14

  • Musical Theatre Dance III Beg/Int: Ages 14-18

  • Musical Theatre Dance III Int/Adv: Ages 14-18

  • Adult Musical Theatre Dance (All levels): Ages 18+


TAP

Students will learn rhythmic patterns, musicality, terminology, and technique through classic and modern styles.

  • Intro to Tap: Ages 7-11

  • Tap (Int/Adv): Ages 12-18


VOCAL MUSIC

Students will learn proper breath support, sound placement, music theory, harmony, solfege, sight reading, and building a repertoire of classical and contemporary music.

DRESS CODE

Wonder Theatre Academy Dress Code
Students must adhere to our dress code for all classes.

Broadway Babies and Little Wonders

Comfortable clothing as students will be exploring singing, acting, and dancing and will be moving around, sitting, or laying on the floor. Students must wear shorts under dresses or skirts. Jazz/Ballet shoes are recommended but not required. If you do not have jazz shoes, be prepared to remove shoes (socks required) in the dance studio.

Acting and Vocal Music Classes

Comfortable clothing. Students are often asked to move around, sit or lie on the floor.

Dance Classes

  • Black leggings, jazz pants/capris, or bike shorts. NO JEANS.

  • Any solid color leotard, crop top, tank top, or fitted t-shirt. 

  • Black or beige jazz shoes. Street shoes are not allowed in our dance studio.

You may choose the style of dancewear that feels best to your dancer. Dance wear can be purchased at Dorothy’s Dance Shop (Target, Amazon, and other retailers also carry options).

 

 

TUITION

Below are the tuition costs per membership for the entirety of the Fall Semester. Each covers your classes through the semester, and can be paid in full, or broken up into three equal payments. If you will be taking one course a week, you want a One Class Membership. If you are taking two classes a week, you’ll want a Two Class Membership, and so on.

  • One Class Membership: $215

  • Two Class Membership: $330

  • Three Class Membership: $445

  • Four Class Membership: $560

After you purchase your membership, a one-time $100 Registration Fee will be applicable. This includes admin costs, scholarship funding, a Bravo! recital fee, materials costs, and will come with a Wonder Theatre shirt. When tuition is paid in FULL, a $25 discount will be applied to your Registration Fee.
